8月8日 Best Practice Webcast: Green IT and Client ComputingSession abstract: By 2010, 75% of organizations will use full life cycle energy and CO2 footprint as mandatory PC hardware buying criteria (Gartner Group 2008). Thin clients are the obvious choice, but require significant change. An easier way to make the transition is to buy energy efficient computers or computers containing less pollutants. Pollutants in our waterways and carbon emissions are the two separate areas that need to be addressed. Some products claiming to be green may compromise one of these concerns for the other. In this session you will learn about the client computing technologies, their power consumption and ways to make your client computing environment more environmentally friendly. Presenter Bio: After finishing school, Benjamin enrolled in a Diploma in Photojournalism and after 2 years and some other study in Computing and Literature he completed this qualification and had a couple of travel articles published. For the next year he fell into Scuba Dive Instructing and then went back to Computers. Ten years on Benjamin is still a IT specialist in software with a degree in Technology majoring in Information Systems. However having worked for several different types of organisations of different sizes it taught Benjamin what he really wanted out of his career – having always been quite independent and concerned for the environment and people's health, the emergence of 'Green IT' was the break he needed to start his own business, Green Earth IT. Regards, INETA APAC 5月21日 TechEd India 2009, Summary of Community activities
Organizations like INETA APAC, Culminis, PASS and Microsoft India, jointly engaged in bringing all user group leaders together, promoting the respective user groups and enabling great networking opportunities between the leaders and attendees of TechEd India. About 1 month before TechEd volunteers from INETA APAC, Culminis, PASS, Microsoft India team, and Microsoft UGSS, formed the India Community Council(ICC), an initiative spearheaded by Microsoft User Group Support Services(UGSS). The objective was to align the efforts of the various organizations in a country and to explore areas of synergy. TechEd was the perfect ground to see the power of the ICC. And they definitely proved their mettle. Further invaluable help was provided by Ashwin Kini, the Culminis APAC chair.
A plan was made to engage the community along the ideas stated in the left column below:
5月14日 INETA APAC – India Leader Summit at TechEd India 2009 todayA bunch of leaders from India, are meeting up at lunch today at the community zone. Introduction to the INETA APAC FY10 plans will be given by Kashinath TR. Looking forward to meeting all leaders. 5月10日 INETA APAC FY10 Planning - Your votes neededThe INETA APAC Volunteer team has come up with ideas about new services which we feel that INETA APAC should provide to it's member groups. This is probably the most important feedback which you can give us, both about our existing services and about new planned services. Please, provide your feedback here.(http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=NrNqaNVxGUzLj4ZzfZOc4A_3d_3d) Also check out the latest newsletter http://apac.ineta.org/Newsletter/English/April2009/tabid/340/Default.aspx 4月28日 Announcing the TechEd India 2009 - Top Architect Contest! It is a contest based on your architectural skill. Microsoft gives you a challenge - details on a system they'd like you to architect. In the allotted period you work out the architecture in line with the expected solution brief. Your submissions would be judged based on the judging criteria and the top three candidates would be invited to Tech.Ed-India 2009 showdown to present their proposal in front of a live audience and a panel of judges. You match wits against your peers to see who can architect the best system to address the challenge … and, get ready to WIN BIG in the process.
Best Practices Webcast: Presenting at large events such as TechEdPresenting at large events such as TechEd
Session abstract: Presenting at large events such as TechEd involves a lot of preparation. Too many speakers leave far too much to chance. Doing a good job does not happen by accident. In this session, Greg will share experience and tips related to the process of getting selected, preparing content and delivering that content. Many of the tips can also be applied to improving the delivery of technical material in classroom or user group situations.

If I’m not wrong this is the first group of it’s kind in the world. The Green IT Special Interest Group (SIG) is an independent, not for profit organisation that is empowered through a volunteer organisation of professionals and through the broad support of industry associations. The Green IT Special Interest Group works with ICT Professionals and clients of ICT services to address today’s sustainability challenges and identify solutions for a better tomorrow. The ACS Green IT Special Interest Group (SIG), chaired by Phillip Nyssen, ACS Qld Board Member, started in Brisbane this year. Its role is to drive IT industry awareness, knowledge and adoption in response to climate change and carbon accounting. Website: www.acs.org.au/greenit You can get involved with them by signing up here http://www.acs.org.au/greenit/register.htm I think this is an extremely interesting group doing good in their own Green way ;-) Love it. INETA Asia Pacific Online on SpacesINETA APAC is undergoing considerable change,
1. Services offered to user group community
2. Online presence. (our official website http://apac.ineta.org is moving to Sharepoint some time in the month of May 2009.)
These are big shifts for a volunteer run organization. In order to better serve the community, we are experimenting with various options to interact on a real time basis with the community. This presence via spaces.live.com is an attempt towards that.
We welcome feedback from the entire .Net user group community in Asia Pacific and hope to have a greater level of interaction and support made available to the user group community. Looking forward to your feedback :-)
